YOUR SLEEPING POSITION IS AN INDICATOR OF YOUR STATE OF MIND

ARE YOU A SLEEPING BEAUTY

The way you sleep

THE FOETUS :You sleep curled-up, which means you may seem tough on the outside but have a sensitive heart. More women sleep this way than men.

STOMACH SLEEPERS: Flat on your stomach, with arms at the head or ears, indicates a brash exterior and someone who may inwardly be sensitive.

LOG POSITION: When you lie straight, it means you are easygoing and trusting.

THE SPOONING: This position involves partners cuddling and shows fondness.

THE YEARNERS: People who sleep on the sides with both arms in front have an open nature but can be suspicious.

Best Way to Sleep

  • Sleeping on the back is a preferred position, as it the least stress on your spine. But if you place a pillow under your knees, this takes stress off your lower back.
  • If you're a side sleeper, use a cervical pillow. This is because you want to keep your neck in a neutral position. Place a pillow between your knees. This is comfortable, if you have pain in your hips. try not to sleep on your side with your arm up over your head, as this causes stress on the nerves.
  • Stomach sleepers cause the most stress to their neck. You should place a pillow under your stomach.
  • Make sure there's no television or harsh sounds in your bedroom. The lighting, too, should be soft.
  • For luck, your head should point north.

KEEP YOUR SKIN HEALTHY TO PREVENT BODY ODOUR PROBLEMS

TAME  THAT ODOUR

THE UNPLEASANT ODOUR

Body odour or 'bromhidrosis' is caused by a natural process involving sweat that occurs on the skin  for long, the bacteria that normally live there or those get attracted to a 'stick skin' feed on it and cause bacterial decomposition. This is what causes the unpleasant smell or body odour. Some areas of the body like the armpits and genitals are more likely to produce the odour as these glands produce proteins and oils that the bacteria feed on.

  • The unpleseant smell is typical to each one's body chemistry.
  • The feet produce its characteristic odour. A humid climate, sweat and closed footwear allow the fungi and bacteria to flourish.
  • Lack of hygiene, obesity, use of synthetic clothing, certain foods, caffeine, strong medications, liver and kidney problems, alcohol and zinc deficiency are certain important contributory factors towards body odour.
PREVENTIVE TIPS

These are few of the tips that are easy to follow and very effective in curbing the unpleseantness caused by body odour.

  • Eat food that contains loads of fibre, whole grains, wheat, soy products and green, leafy vegetables.  Avoid processed foods.
  • Drink plenty of water. This will help in diluting the sweat and urine, both of which contribute to body odour.
  • Wear light coloured, loose cotton clothes to soak sweat and deflect the sun's rays.
  • Body odour lingers on clothes, so wash clothes after every wash and avoid polyester fabric.
  • Have frequent showers with a teaspoon of alum, added to your bath water.
  • Use an antibacterial soap.
  • Cider vinegar or white vinegar applied with cotton on the underarm areas help fight the unpleasant smell.
  • A little baking soda with lemon juice helps kill the bacteria and also absorbs the sweat.
  • Special attention should be paid to hygiene of the feet and  body folds, especially in obese people. Feet should be used between the toes and an antifungal powder should be used between the toes and in the body folds lie the armpits groin neck, under the breasts after wash regularly.  Preferably, wear open sandals..
  • Avoid spicy food and caffeine.
  • For very severe sweating or 'hyperhidrosis' injecting Botox  (botulinum toxin) in the armpit skin takes care of the condition for almost a year, after which it needs to be repeated. Other surgical procedures include partial removal of sweat glands themselves or destroying the nerves that control the sweating, seek professional help.
So, get started! keep body odour at bay. keep all around you happy too!

NATURAL DISASTERS

THE WORLD
DISASTERS

         NATURAL DISASTERS

It's a dangerous world. We try to make it safe for ourselves, but wild weather and violent geological events are simply beyond our control. When tornadoes or earthquakes strike populated places, they can spell disaster.

Are natural calamities more common now than theywere in the past ? News coverage can make it seem so, but it is not nature that's changing -  it is us. Since 1900, the world's population has more than tripled, and the built-up areas have increased over five times in size. Regions prone to disastrous events are densely populated. today, more than half of all people live in areas which are at constant risk orf flooding.

Whether through optimism or necessity, people often ignore very real dangers. We crowd into huge cities, such as San Francisco and Tokyo, which we know have suffered terrible earthquakes, and will almost certainly be struck again. Dangerous volcanic areas are populated too. When Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii in AD79, it killed about 2,000 people. If it erupted today - and it might - it would endanger a million lives.

Will continue.....

These are indications that what someone is saying is more important to you than electronic gadgets, more important than the hewpaper.

Your attention indicates that this person is important to you and that you want to hear what is being said. There is no substitute for this kind of attention.

AJITH and GAUTHAM MENON - BEAT OF BOTH WORLDS

A landmark
    Film ?

Three of Kollywood's happening men met on Sunday in a hush hush locale. Gautham Menon. Whose VTV opened to rave reviews, Dayanidhi Alagiri, whose Tamizh Padam is turning into a sleeper hit, and actor Ajith, who is hitting the gym in a big way, met to discuss Ajith's 50th film.
Dayanidhi Alagiri and Vivek Rathinavel, the producers of Ajith's 50th film and its director Gautham, want the film to be a 'miliestone'. "We want it to have an international feel and appeal to all strata of society. Most of the shooting will take place abroad. Landmark films like this do not happen very often. And, it will be unlike Billa or Aasal. " said a source.
A R Rahman, whose tunes in VTV are a huge hit, has been confirmed as the music director. Shooting will commence on October 1. Ajith, who has hti the gym to get into  shape for the F2 European challenge, will be away from Chennai from March, and is reportedly excited about the forthcoming motor event which will go on till October. The actor, we hear, wants to be an ambassador for the sport in India. Meanwhile, the producers and the director are working on other logistics, including finalising the heroine.
Ajith, who had been caught in a controversy over his remark that stars were being forced to take part in sensitive social and political issues, has reportedly put the issue behind him. He is now focussed on shedding close to 20 kg, and is also firming up his neck muscles to withstand the strain of taking part in the F2 European Challenge. Ajith, who walked away from the motor sport six years agao due to injuries, now wants to make a comeback and straddle both motorsport and cinema.
Gautham is known to ensure that every actor looks the part, and ajith wants to deliver a hit. Rahman, we hear, is excited about the project, and one can look forward to a film in which the music (the lyrics of which will be penned by Thamarai) will also be a hallmark. Gautham, who is likely to finalise the heroine by Wednesday, is apparently looking for someone who will look classy and yet strike a chord, as a Sameera Reddy did in Vaaranam Aayiram, and Jyotika and Kamalinee Mukherji in Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu.

HOCKEY PAKISTAN Vs SPAIN WORLD CUP 2010

Wounded Pakistan need to win against Spain

New Delhi: They are hurt and bruised. Spain, beware of a Pakistan backlash. Their pride dented following the loss against arch-rivals India, a wounded Pkistan were seeking nothing but a win against Spain on Tuesday to keep them on track in the Hero Honda hockey world Cup.
But, Zeeshan ashraf's men would be aware that it was not going to be easy against a team which overcome a shaky beginning to win their first match against South Africa on Sunday. Both the coach and the captain admitted that theyhave to put the failure against India behind and look ahead to stay alive in the tournament.
"We have still four matches to go, " said coach Shahid Ali Khan. "I have trust on my boys, and we will bounce back. " The games against India on Sunday exposed the chinks in Pakistan's Armour like their inability to rotate the players effectively,Waseem Ahmed's struggle to match up to the much inexperienced Indian midfielders and Sohail Abbas' failure to eonvert most of the penalty corners that came thier way.
But despite the shortcomings, the side had the ability to lift up their level to match the best in the business, especially after a defeat like the one they suffered against the hosts. "The best thing about this team is that it knows how to bounce back, " said captain Ashraf, suggesting that how important it was for his team to win to stay alive in the competition.
Spain, on the other hand, would be weary about conceding early goals which put them under some pressure in the game against South Africa. They appeared a disjointed lot in the initial stage of the match, but reorganised to take home full points. But against a team like Pakistan, any early mistakes could prove costly.

HOCKEY AUSTRALIA and ENGLAND - WORLD CUP 2010

Brit grit stuns mighty Aussies

New Delhi: after 14 penalty corners and innumerable video referrals, favourites Australia lay beaten by a determined England 3-2 in a major upset in the second game of the Hockey World Cup her on Sunday.
It was memorable day for England hockey as they posted their fifth-ever victory against australia. In fact, the last time they beat their archrivals was 25 yers ago in a friendly in Melbourne.
James Tindall scored a brace in the 33rd and 45th minutes after England replied superbly to Australia's 23rd minute goal with a thundering penalty corner conversion by Ashley Jackson. skipper Jamie Dwyer put his ream ahead with a penalty stroke before returning in the second half to find the other off a penalty corner.
It was a story of missed chances for the Australians. Up against a determined England that had jam packed its defense, they were clueless.England were too resolute, pushing and prodding but getting their reflexes and edges right.
The first rew minuted did provide the foretaste but the pendulum swung inexorably towards Australia. There were penalty corners that were close and there were others which brought the best out of goalkeeper James Fair. However, a stick check on Edward Ockenden saw England fall back in arrears when Dwyer converted the penalty stroke.
Then came the Jackson stunner. Dragging the ball with all his might, he relayed it home in a mighty heave, leaving the kookaburras gasping and the Englishman celebrating. In the 33rd minute, an indirect conversion of a penalty corner by Tindall had them sense victory for the first time as they went into the break.
The reasons for the optimism were plenty. for one, Australia were hopelessly off target. for another, they were musteriously tense in the striking circle, either letting go of chances or making a hash of penalty corners.
The trend was pretty much the same in the second half. England pushed their luck with referrals too, winning a new of them and quite naturally breaking the Aussie rhythm.

HOCK - EYE HOCKEY COMES HOME

FOUR NATIONAL PRIDE

Sandeep Singh Strikes Twice As India Trounce Pakistan 4-1 To Make Rocking Start To WC

New Delhi: Who says Indian hockey is dead ? If you were inside the Major Dhayan Chand National stadium on Sunday night and heard the countdown roar as a band of fighting, swinging, diving, rocking Indians in Blue  raced to victory over big rivals Pakistan, you would have wowed to return again. And to learn to love the forgotten boys of Indian sport once again.

It was a night of rede4mption for the Blue Shirts. India had been buried quietly by Pakistan 7-1 inside this very stadium in 1982 during the Asian Games. They never recovered from there, losing the fans' interest and slipping into oblivion. The 4-1 win in their opening match of the World Cup on Sunday washed away the bitterness of that humiliation. Yes,it was goosebumps night, a match to svour and herish and one to take home with you, to stay with you foreover.

The signs were all there in the evening. Fans were trooping in, draped in the Tricolour, restless to see magic on the turf. The crowd of 16,000 was mesmerized and went home more than satiated. Holi will certainly acquire a new flavour on Monday.

A lot of credit for this win goes to the Indian coaching team. It was a great tacical move to rest first goalkeeper Adrian D'Souza and play PR Sreejesh. The idea was to surprise Pakistan's main weapon Sohail Abbas, the drag flick king of the world. Abbas was floored completely and walked away with a lost look in his eyes. Pakistan earned six penalty corners and Abbas could convert only one. That settled it, nice and proper.

Beyond that , there were too many heroes in the Indian camp. The defenders and midfielders were simply awesome as they kept the ball in possession in the first half, which helped India dictate terms. And when the time to drive the point home came, Sandeep Singh showed why he is feared by mostgoalkeepers in the world. He slammed home two penalty corners. his scorching flicks giving Pakistan goalkeeper Salman Akbar no chance. Butbefore that he set the tempo when India earned their second penalty corner. Sandeep's flick crashed into Akbar's pads and Shivendra Siingh did the rest, slotting the rebound home with glee.

What struck most was the manner in which Indians went for the ball. They were relentless in their bid to keep the Pakistanis away from the ball, They dived, they lunged, they endlessly, tirelessly. It was fascinating to watch India play possession hockey. No wonder, they were2-0 up at the end of the first half as Pakistan hardly got a good look at India's goal.

The second half began with a bang as Prabhjot singh scored in a counterattack. It was simply too big a task for Pakistan from there. They did wake up and tried to attack but were foiled well by Srejesh and the Indian defenders. Sandeep's second and India's fouth goal in the 55th minute left nobody with any doubts.

The fans became noisier, the pace of the game picked yup nd Pakistan slipped into desperation mode. It did yield them a goal but that was that.

A word for India's Spanish coach Jose Brasa. His use of the rotational substitution was terrific. Rarely has one seen players come in and go out with such frequency. This also speaks for India's bench strength. All 16 are good enough to battle with the best.

As for the players, there was no lack of effort on any count. Sardara Singh, captain Rajpal soingh, Shivendra Singh were all very good. Midfielder Bharat had a great game.

It is still early days in the tournament jbut it is not the time to look ahead now, it's a time to celebrate. Bring out the colours!
