FAMILY AFFAIR

Naseeruddin Shah's youngest son Vivaan is all set to make his Bollywood debut opposite Priyanka Chopra! Yes, he is playing one of her seven husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf, The Vishal Bhardwaj film, an unusual drama of passion and polyandry, also stars his father.
Naseer plays Priyanka's oldest husband while 20-year-old Vivaan plays the youngest. Shooting is currently on at Coorg.
Vivaan was chosen by Vishal after he happened to see the boy and found him just right for the role. Vivaan had no plans of a career in acting at this stage and age. Though casting both father and son as Priyanka's husbands does appear rather audacious, Vishal seems convinced about it.
Though everyone associated with the film is tight-lipped about this casting coup, another source has confirmed the news. The final list of Priyanka's husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf (the title may be revised again) is - Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, John Abraham , Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anu Kapoor, an undisclosed Russian actor and Vivaan Shah.

Vivek Oberoi - READY FOR SOME ACTION ?

THE
PRINCE
OF OPULENCE IS COMING

Vivek Oberoi's big-ticket venture has all the
ingredients to be a perfect entertainer

April 9 will mark an important release in Bollywood. It's the Friday on
Kumar Taurani's Prince,l an extreme action thriller, will make its splash across cinemas worldwide. "For the first time, the Indian audience will make its splash across cinemas worldwide. "For the first time, the Indian audience will see a Bollywood action flick that has the technical finesse and opulence of a Hollywood film, "says the producer.
Kumar is very clear about why he spent megabucks on a thriller like this. "India has been exposed to the very best of Hollywood action and sci-fi films, " he says "whether it is the James Bond series, the Bourne films or, for that matter, James Cameron's Avatar, each of these films has registered fantastic box office collections in the sub-continent. This only means that we're huge action junkies. And, that is one of the reasons why I went ahead and commissioned this film. It should be the mother of all Indian action films. "
The leading man, Vivek Oberoi, improvises on Kumar's description by adding, "We -Kumar, director Kookie Gulati, action-director Allan Amin and I--have gone out there and made what I would describe as a 'glocal' film." He explains the new term, "By 'glocal,' I mean we have gotten the best of global technology and yet at the core it is a film that will appeal to out local audience. It is a paisa Vasool, seeti-maro thriller with edge-of-the-seat excitement. and yet, it has the emotional touch that makes Bollywood movies the craze they are. "
Vivek trained for five and a half months for this action flick. "Most people finish an entire film in three months and I invested double that time in just learning to do my stunts, " he says. A martial arts trainer came from Thailand and a parkour trainer from England, while Allan Amin him self was deeply involved in every single stunt picturised. What is really worth the price of the ticket is the fact that all stunts were performed live. "We didn't shoot anything against a chroma screen. Each of those death-defying stunts was done live, "says Vivek.
Not one to cut corners, Kookie Gulati impressed upon his leading man the need to engage in live action. "Watching a hero actually jump from buildings, or engaging in those screeching motorbike chases, gives the audience an adrenaline rush. Good action has that jaw dropping dffect on us. I can tell you Prince matches up to the best international standards. "
Lending his expertise on this project is also a leading international editor, Nicolas Lacroix, who worked on Jason Statham's Transporter, And it can be said that his cutting edge experience has set the pace for the film across screens.

IPL CRICKET 2010 Agaist KKR

IPL CRICKET 2010

Dada & Co need to get going

Mumbai: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. the one place where this line perhaps needs to be pasted in big blod letters is the Kolkata Knight Riders dressing room. IPL 3 has been on for a week, the contests have just about gotten tougher but the knights are still missing out on reading what the need of the hour can be.
Just because they have just only two matches in the tournament so far and have in fact won two of them should in no way deter the side from contemplating what the ground reality is. The two defeats-both severe batting debacles-should actually be serving them a timely notice to pull up their socks.
On Monday, their task will be no less easy, on the contrary more demanding, when they face Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Sachin Tendulkar-led team  may have faced an odd day's disappointment out against the Royal Challeners Bangalore but nonetheless, but they still happen to be among the tournament's most formidable contenders.
The Knoghts' batting against Chennai, or perhaps the lack of it, when their highest scoring player was wicket-keeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha at 22, was a sight that world've made team owner Shah Rukh Khan cringe. To add to the ignominy, the team performed a notch lesser in the following match against Rajasthan Royals bestowing upon shane Warne's team their first win this season.
In 2009, by the time the tournament was coming to an end, it began to appear that the biggest asset for most teams was the opportunity to play KKR just because two points seemed guaranteed. The last thing Sourav Ganguly-led side needs to do is offer that kind of help once again.

IPL CRICKET 2010 - AGAINST Kolkatta Knight Riders

IPL CRICKET 2010

KKR Lost because of poor planning

It's hard to imagine that Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Rajasthan Royals by 34 runs even though they had seven wickets in the shed when the final over began. Clearly, things went horribly wrong for the Kolkata team and they seemed unable to change gears once they got into cruise control. Why didn't any of the batsmen try to change the momentum? Why did the form players not come in earlier ?
Both Sourav Ganguly and Dav Whatmore must take responsibility for faulty planning on Saturday, and they need to address these problem areas immediately, since they meet Mumbai Indians on Monday.
One of the cardinal rules of T20 is to get the form players in early. Angelo Mathews looks in good touch as does Owais Shah, but the former came in with just three balls to spare. It was as though Kolkata kept threatening to cut loose and when they did decide to up the tempo, the game had got too far away from them. Nobody seized the opportunity to stand up for the team, and the hesitant approach cost the team the match.
I can understand Sourav sending himself in at No.3 or four, because as captain he would want to lead from the front. However, one has to do the business on the field, and that is not happening for him at the moment. The team will be hoping for Chris Gayle to be ready for Monday's game as it is clear that they lack firepower at the start of the innings. Things look a little ominous for Kolkata at the moment and they need to stem the rot in the next game itself.

IPL CRICKET 2010 - DECCAN Vs DELHI DAREDEVILS

IPL CRICKET 2010

Deccan Vs Delhi Daredevils

Symmo bowls Chargers to win over Delhi

Cuttack: Deccan Chargers are stepping it up nicely. The defending champions were slow off the blocks in IPL-III but have made a strong declaration of intent with three wins on the trot, the latest a 10-run win coming at the expense of Delhi Daredevils, who were restricted to 161 for nine.
Outwitted for most part of their innings after deciding to bat first in the day-nighter at the Barabati Statium on Sunday, Chargers stuck to their guns and played the crucial junctures brilliantly after Daredevils' carnage at athe top through David Warner and a late charge by skipper Dinesh Karthik (45, 27b, 4x2, 2x6) took them closer to the bosts' 171 for six.
Warner (57, 33b, 4x4, 3x6) took nine of Chaminda Vaas' first and clattered RP Singh for 20 in the wecond over but the Chargers kept their wits about them and waited for the daredevils to play into their hands.
Frustrated by Pragyan Ojha, Virender Sehwag fell to a fine catch by Herschelle Gibbs deving in front at long-off to scoop the ball dipping on him and AB de Villiers was cleaned up by debutant leggie Rahul Sharma-he had a baptism by fire, conceding a six off the first delivery he bowled. But it was clear the Chargers had no intention to end up second best on the day their self-belief shining under lights when push came to shove.
Warner was done in by Vaas' smart work in the field to terminate a 51-run partnership for the second wicket. When Rahul Sharma cleaned up AB de Villers for 27 (26b, 2x4) the match was nicely poised with Daredevils 98 for three in 12.2 overs and skipper Karthik-who dept his opposite number waiting at the toss-threatening bo go on the rampage.
Karthik did well to whittle down the target nicely; they got 17 from the 18th over bowled by Rahul, which meant they required 37 from 18 deliveries when Gilchrist threw the ball to Andrew Symonds-who else?- and he returned three for 21, striking twice in the penultimate over of the innings.
He plucked a catch out of thin air on his follow through to see the back of Karthik and the Daredevils' chase fell apart-they needed 14 from the last over by Vaas. for the first time in the tournament the Lankan seamer did not get his team early wickets but two from first two balls off the last over sealed Delhi's fate, which probably could have been something else had they not conceded 56 runs in the last five overs.
And that after they scalped Gilchrist for 24 (14b, 4x4, 1x6), Gibbs (31, 26b, 2x4, 2x6) lent his delicate 'touch' to the innings and Symonds rattles 35 (24b, 3x4, 2x6) but if Chargers-who made three changes- could post a winning total after they were tied up in knots by the Delhi spinners early on, it was in the main due to Rohit Sharma's 45 (30b, 3x4, 3x6) and Suman's unbeaten 29 (19b, 3x4, 1x6).

 SCUPPER OVER FOR CSK
Kings XI win Thriller in Super Over After Raina's Boys Make A Mess Of Easy Chase

Chennai: A King-size shock! That's what it was as Chennai Super Kings went down to kings XI in the Super Over on Sunday.
Set a target of 10 in the Super Over after a tie, Mahela Jayawardene hit the first ball for a six off Muttiah Muralitharan only to get out off the next.
But Yuvraj singh held his nerves, played an audacious reverse sweep off the fourth ball to finish it off.
Earlier, Parthiv Patel almost took CSK home, but they faltered just when it mattered and lost wickets in a heap as the match went into a tie.
Set a modest target of 137, Parthiv went out in the 18th over and CSK couldn't manage to score 10 runs off the last over off Juan Theron, making his IPL debut. the south African bowled a brilliant Super Over as well, getting both Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden out.
Earlier, Muralitharan showed age has not withered his skills as he had kings XI under his spell (4-0-16-3). The Kandy bowler 's magic meant that CSK had a modest total to chase after Suresh Taina won the toss and elected to field in the IPL match.
Raina did well as a captain, taking a cue from Dhoni, to rotate the bowlers and never allowed Kings XI to settle. Albie Morkel  (4-0-23-2) gave Murali adequate as Preity's boys failed to break the shackles.

Shah Rukh Khan with Karan Johar SOCIAL BUG

Who made SRK Chirp?

If he's got dark circles and stays up all night, don't tut tut shah Rukh Khan. Simply blame his buddy Karan Johar . for he's the man who introduced King Khan to sleepless nights. While Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan prefer an online presence for their stars, SRK tweets away. All thanks to media's darling KJO. The khan doesn't deny this either, he says, "Karan forced me to join in. Actually, I'm not very good at replying, I'm not social and I'm quite reclusive. I don't SMS, I don't talk too much on the phone, and I'm proud of it. I've come to the conclusion that I've spent so much time dealing with people, loving people, being with people; that there are times I want to be alone and don't want to share anything with anyone. My wife and kids give me that time. Over the years, I've become more like this and people think I'm being socially incorrect. so I didn't want to be part of a socially interactive space where I didn't know what to say. But recently, I tried it and found that people have been so warm and loving. Of course, some stupid people feel I must've gone there to promote my films. Again. I'm saying this: I don't need to promote my films like this. " Kudos to KJo. And must say, such a 'tweet' friend this one is.
