ON APT.....
It's the sotroy of a girl, Tamilarasi, a wandering performing artiste, She is so poor that she attends school only for the tree mials ! In one such village, she meets the hero. I can't reveal what happens next.. But the climax of the film will be a stunner. I will vouch that no other film in Tamil cinema has ever had xuch a climax.
TRIPLE DHAMAKA...
Jai and I have three get-ups in the film- that of class twelve students, 25-year-olds. Since the age difference isn't much, we had to strive really hard to have a convincing look. We had to gain and lose weight in quick succession.as for Jai, he worked realy hard and didn't throw his weight around on the sets.
MEERA, A TASKMASTER....
Yes, Meera sir is such a professional and wanted to shoot as realistically as possible. There's a particular scent in which my character is slapped by her mother, Neera sir insistedthat I be slapped for real and even went for retakes as he frlt the slaps weren't hard. That afternoon, my face got swollen and i was down with fever !
ON THE DARKER SIDE...
even when we did the 10-minute trailer of the film some years back, I was very fair looking. But my character is that of a rustic villager who is dark-skinned. So, he asked me to apply oil on my skin and stand under the sun every-day. He would call me up everyday and just pop this one word -- niniya (Did you stand?) Even while filming, he would never allow me to get inside the caravan or apply make-up, I've lost my original skin colour, i now know all's not 'fair' in cinema !
PASSION FOR FASHION...
I was doing a course in fashion designing but thanks to my busy schedule, I had to discontinue it. But, I have put my passion to good use. In fact, I designed the dress that I had worn for the audio launch of APT. I hope I get to design my own constumes in the future.
FUTURE PLANS...
I'm doing Thaandavkone with Seeman's assistant, Ganesh. I am paired opposite Sanjay, who has done movies like Bakthan, Paragu and Branhmadeva. The film has music by Ilaiyaraaja and will be launched next mont. I also have Ithanai Naalai Engirundhai with R Balu (of Kalamellam Kadhal Vaazhga fame) oppsite Ananda Kannan, which is 70 percent complete. I've also been offered a role with two popular filmmakers but I will make an official announcement next month. As of now, I'm looking for ward to the release of APT!
