PANCREATIC CANCER

British researchers claim to have developed a new urine test that ca  identify symptoms of pancreatic cancer within two hours. Scientists have developed the test that works by detecting raised levels of a specific protein - known as tumor marker - in the urine of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The test may increase patients' chances of survival after five years by 30% Daily Mail reported. Presently, a test for pancreatic cancer takes around 36 to 48 hours and it is also hard to detect the disease in primary stage.

NINE GENES LINKED TO DIABETES 'DISCOVERED'

NINE GENES

Scientists have discovered nine genes linked to diabetes, a key breakthrough way for new treatment against the disease worldwide.  A team from 174 research centres around the world, who studied the genes and blood glucose level of more than 120,000 volunteers, has identified the nine genes which control the body's response to glucose in the blood. Type 2 Diabetes occurs when the tissues of the body become resistant to the effects of insulin, needed to regulate  glucose. The suffers may control the disease with diet and exercise but often have to take insulin. "This is an incredibly important finding. The discovery of these new genes influencing blood-sugar levels is the first step on the important journey to developing new therapies for diabetes," Jim Wilson who heads the study said.

Life Is Full Of Amusing Things

Laugh

Laugh every single day. If there's nothing lively going on , think of something that's funny. Before you go to bed at night, be sure to have a good chuckle.

Life is full of amusing things. Learn to observe. There's a funny side even to the sad things that happen. It could take courage to recognize it, but it's there.

Build a repertoire of funny stories, things that happened to you. Tell these to others. Try not to talk about gruesome things like operations. Don't harp on your aches and pains. No one wants to listen to that kind of an organ recital.

END OF DIANOSAURS

THE END OF THE DINOSAURS

Dinosaurs were the largest and the most successful animals on land. Then about 65 million years ago, they became extinct. Scientists have developed many theories to explain their extinction. The two major theories involve : (1) gradual climate changes and (2) the collision of a large asteroid with the earth. According to the first theory, it was a time of great mountain building, so the climate became more varied everywhere around the globe. Winters became too cold and summers too hot for dinosaurs to survive. Thus, death and extinction came as a result of gradual climatic changes.
The other major extinction theory, which is quite popular today, claims tht a large asteroid hit the earth. The asteroid impact would have thrown billion of tonnes of dust and debris into the atmosphere. Heat from the impact may have caused huge fires worldwide. Together, the clouds of smoke and debris, would have blocked sunlight from reaching the surface of the earth for many months. without light, the plants stopped growing and died. Without plants, the plant-eating dinosaurs would have starved to death. As the plat-eaters died, so did the flesh-eating dinosaurs that fed on them.

Most scientists, however, feel that no single theory completely explains why dinosaurs suffered extinction. They argue that a combination of causes may have contributed to their extinction. In fact, experts now believe regard birds as living dinosaurs that survived extinction.

FOOD OF DINOSAURS

DINOSAURS'S  FOOD

Most dinosaurs were plant-eaters. They probably fed on a wealth of leaves, small fruits and seeds. Some of the plant-eaters could chew their food, while others gulped it down. The flesh-eating dinosaurs preyed on a wide variety of plant-eating dinosaurs and possibly of each other. some of the small dinosaurs probably ate insects, eggs, mammals and lizards. Some fierce dinosaurs may have hunted their prey in packs as wolves do today. Others may sometimes have been scavengers that fed on dead animals.

SIZE OF DINOSOURS

Many dinosaurs were of enormous size. some were larger than any other animal ever to live on land. The largest dinosaurs may have grown as long as 30m and weighed as much as 77 metric tonnes (77,000 kg), Such giants would have been more than 10 times as heavy as a full-grown African male elephant. But not all dinosaurs were giants The smallest kinds were approximately the size of a chicken.
