Kings XI Punjab ?& Royal Challengers Team at Bangalore

Bangalore out bat Kings XI

Bangalore: It was a delicious home-patented dish Ugadi 'pachchadi' served for the fans by Royal Chalengers Bangalore on Tuesday. the home side overcame a huge target, 204 set by Kings XI Punjab thanks to a calculated assault by Jacques Kallis and Robin Uthappa.
For a side that has never man aged a total of 200 in the IPL, the target of 204 in itself was a mammoth task; leave the pressure of delivering before an ambitious home crowd and a forgettable home record.
But all that changed as opener Kallis (89 n,o., 57b, 8x4, 5x6) produced yet another fluent innings to lead Royal Challengers to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab, their first in IPL 3.
The veteran South African was joined in the run feast by home lads Manish Pandey (38, 26b, 2x4, 3x6) and Robin Uthappa (51, 21b, 4x4, 4x6) as RCB dished out an unforgettable show before the near capacity holiday crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As expected, RCB included the experienced Mark Boucher in place of shreevats Goswami for the wicket keeping job. The move meant RCB had to rtry out a new opening pair for the season and they went for the one that had struck gold towards the business end of the previous edition in south Africa.
Kallis and Pandey went about the job in style with the latter producing some characteristic mix of orthodox and unorthodox strokes.
Leggie Piyush Chawla gave the visitors the much-required relief, dismissing Pandey in his scond over, the ninth of the innings.
RCB coach Ray Jennings had specifically mentioned the need for the likes of Uthappa to fire for a huge total and the Bangalorean roared back to his old self in a crucial phase.
Uthappa collected as many as 25 runs off his good friend S Sreesanth's 13th over and reached the half-century from just 19 balls but 61 away from victory with six overs in the kitty.

CHENNAI SKIPPER KING

Dhoni Blitzkrieg Powers CSK TO 55-Run Victory Over Knight Riders

Kolkata: The Knights finally came crashing down. After the euphoria of two victories, the reality of T20 cricket struck Kolkata Knight Riders as they went down to Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens here on Tuesday. The 55-run defeat gave the Chennai side its first win of the tournament and the path to that was shown by the skipper himself.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni plundered 66 off 33 balls, taking charge of the game after his side struggled to score initially. Dhoni's blitz helped CSK reach 164 for three, a score which proved too heavy for KKR.
That KKR were bowled out for 109 in the last over, was more due to the batsmen's follies than good bowling. CSK, however, wouldn't mind that.
Wickets tumbled for KKR right from first over when Brad Hodge was caught by Ashwin off A1 bie Morkel without any runs on the home team's board. Wriddhiman Saha flourished briefly for his 22, but that wasn't enough. And when skipper Sourav Ganguly trudged back after scoring just 11 off 20 balls with the score reading 55 for five, the first of Justin Kemp's three wickets, the KKR fans knew it was almost over.
Earlier, Chennai super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni stole what could have been Shane Bond's thunder, with some lusty hitting to help the team reach 164 for three.
The score, in fact, looked impossible at one stage when the visitors were stifled by quality bowling from KKR. Struggling at 96 for three from 15 overs. CSK faced a Herculean task to reach 150. It needed a special innings. And that was produced by Dhoni, with some help from S Badrinath and also a life given by KKR wicket keeper Saha early in his innings. The duo collected an amazing 68 runs from the last five overs, leaving the KKR attack in complete disarray.

'I need to gather
my energies"

As Bollywood's biggest icon, Aamir Khan, steps into his drawing room, rubbing his eyes, you're left wondering, Has he really turned a year older? His dishevelled, straight-out--of-bed  look belies his age. Yes, Aamir turned 45 yesterday. His last release, 3 Idiots, is the biggest hit in Bollywood film history, and, of course, the discerning actor is sitting pretty on a pile of money and scripts. But what's shocking is the fact that he has decided to sit his 45th year out as an actor.
Aamir has already announced his decision not to do a single film this calendar year. Instead, he will concentrate on releasing his banner's three films which are under production -- Peeple Live,Dhobe Ghat and Delhi Belly.
Seeing the slightly lost look in his eyes, we ask him if he's feeling lonely at the top and he replies pat, "I'm certainly not lonely, which might mean that I'm certainly not at the top. I'm very fortunate with the kind of relationships I have made with the people I have worked with. Today, I feel more connected to my audience than ever before. So actually, I'm neither alone nor am I lonely. "
His decision to not drive to the studios, though, is a conscious one. Says Aamir, "Professionally, I have been giving so much of myself in the last three years. I ended up directing Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and 3 Idiots were both physically and mentally demanding. I now feel the need to just stop and take a breath.I need to gather my energies again. My father's (Tahir Hussain) sudden death came as a blow. I realised on that day how fragile life was. We take too much for granted. And I've made up my mind to spend more time during the coming year with my children Junaid and Ira, my mother, Faisal, my sisters and my wife Kiran. Time is passing. Relationships need to be nurtured. I want to give value and importance to my personal life. "
There are also a number of things Aamir wants to start learning. He says, "I want to learn to swim, I want to take cooking lessons from my mother. And I need to pick up some languages, I will learn how to speak Marathi, It is really shameful that I don't speak the language of my state. On the other hand. I can speak my mother tongue Urdu. But I don't know how to read and write Urdu. So this is my first priority. I will concentrate on my cooking and then swimming. So, this year, I will spend more time in the kitchen than in the studios. "
