SRI DEVI - FAMILY TIES

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

IT's in
the genes

Rumours say that filmmaker R Balki may be interested in making a film with yesteryear diva Sridevi, Of course, can't give too much credence to the reports now because Balki is basking in the success of Paa and Sri is busy painting her canvas red. However, a spy in the building where Sri goes to get her beauty shots says the actress and her young daughter, Jahnvi, come regularly to the parlour. Naturally, there are whispers that not only will Sridevi make a comeback, her young daughter is also being groomed for stardom in the future. If Jahnvi has Sri's genes, she'll turn out to be a fine actress. And paa Boney Kapoor can always produce those movies. Like they say in Bollywood, it is all in the family.

SHRUTI HAASAN - SANDALWOOD

CROONING
GLORY

She's done it! Shruti Haasan, the latest southern belle to heat up the Bollywood scene, has recorded a unique track for Jacob Verghese's upcoming Kannada film, Prithve, She has lent her voice to music director Manikanth Kadri's composition, Nenapide Nena;ide....The team was keen that shruti sing the track and flew her down to Mumbai last week to record the song.
Even though it's her first song in kanada,Shruti was at ease with pronunciations, says the composer, "She took time to warm up, but we recorded the song in about two-and-a-half hours. Shruti has a very distinct style -- she can be rustic as well as western. It's unique and she's given her touch to the duet, which she sang with Karthik, " says Manikanth.

EESHA NARANG KOPPIKHAR - KHALLAS BABE

Babe to business

There's competition for the Suniel Shettys and Rakhi Sawants in Bollywood. Joining the business bandwagon is the Khallas babe, Esha Narang nee Koppikhar. That's at least what she wants us to believe when we question her about her plans in 2010, as the svelte beauty calmly sifts through piles of chikan suits on display before her, And no, it's not exporting chikan that's on her mind.
"I love chikan and try to buy at least one piece every time I'm in Lucknow, " she says. While we are on the topic of marriages, one does wonder what the recently-married Esha thinks of Rahul Mahajan's much-publicised nuptials. "I would never want to be a part of something like this (the televised wedding series). Relationships are a personal, intimate affair, so, why have the whole world comment?" she asks.
And she is equally candid when asked about why her film career seems to be on a downward spiral.
"I was inundated with film offers and did make some bad choices, a few mistakes. But let's be honest here. I came into the industry without any backing. There was no star boyfriend helping me. "

SIMBU - MUSIC MAN

At his vocal best

Lady luck seems to be shining bright on Simbu. The young and talented actor, who is basking in the glory of the stupendous success of his recently released Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, which has made him the darling of girls, has bagged an offer to sing in director M Raju's Thillalangadi which has Jayam Ravi, Tamannaah and Shaam in the lead.

The story goes like this. Director Raja and composer Yuvan shankar Raja were looking for a fresh voice for the peppy number Pattu Pattu Pattampooch..., penned by Na Muthu Kumar. That was when Simbu's name cropped up. And a good friend that Simbu is, he instantly agreed. He not only recorded the song in three hours but also did it with utmost perfection, we hear. Way to go, Simbu !

TILAKARATNE DILSHAN - MIND ON MOVIES

Batting for
films

Tilakaratne Dilshan, the Lankan batsman who is in the country to play in the IPL, had said a few months ago that he was in the middle of writing a film script. Now, when asked again about the progress he'd made, he said excitedly, "I am relieved now as I am done with the script. "
Dilshan has devoted two years to writing the script. "It's very different from the conventional ones. I have added a twist to it by putting in love and loads of thrill and drama. " However, Dilshan's not sure about when he will begin the film making. Though it's going to be a Lankan movie, Dilshan plans to market his script in India too. He shares a close bond with India as he married his wife Manjula, who is an actor, in Delhi. "The lead cast is yet to be decided, " he said.
The movie is untitled, and might have Indian actors too, "I am thinking about the cast -- I want to have some one like Hrithik Roshan in it. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Kites. I feel that it will be a very different movie, " he said.

SEMINAR STUDY & WORK IN DANADA

CAPTIVATING CANADA

ADVICE FROM EDWISE

For starters, Canada already boasts of a large Indian diaspora of students, offering a truly international educational experience. Canadian diplomas and degrees are instantly recognized around the world as being of the highest standards. and what's more, you get all this at a remarkably low cost, both in terms of tution fees and cost of living.
With over 90 universities and 175 colleges and technical institutes featuring virtually every program imaginable, from nuclear science to engineering, MBA to arts and music, Canada may just be the place of your dreams.
Canadian institutions have earned an international reputation for excellence. Their faculty has recognized research and teaching strengths in everything from computer sciences, business (including MBA programs), health sciences, law, ocean studies, natual resources to agriculture.
The Canadian education system consists of colleges, and Universities. Students from India tend to prefer Degree's and thus often look to Universities for programs. Universities offer 4 year Bachelor's programs and 2 year Master's programs in Canada would require 16 years of education prior to enrollment but there are a few which accept 15 years of education into some programs, such as MBA programs.
A little known fact is that Canadian Colleges offer Bachelor's degree programs. Further they offer excellent P.G. Diploma programswith a great emphasis on industry requirements. These vocational programs have great value in the job market. Students also can enroll in a program with a Co-op(work) semester thus getting some hands on work experience. The PG Diploma programmes are ideally suited for Indian Students with 15 years of education.
Need more reasons? Here's one that tops the list5. The Canadian High Commission launched the immensely successful student Partner's program with the idea of increasing the approval rate for study permit applications at participating Canadian Colleges. This SPP program assists students to get a Visa faster, provided they meet a specific list of conditions.
the lure and beauty of Canada is hard to resist. Several international students who complete post-secondary education in Canada wish to stay on and obtain Canadian work experience. A wise move considering Canada has also been consistently ranked by the UN as the number one country in the world to live in.
Once you've completed your studies, you can apply for a post-graduation work permit, which allows you to work in Canada. Under the post-graduation work permit program, international graduates who have studied a 2 year program can now obtain a three-year open work permit on which they can work for any Canadian employer in any industry.
What's more, students are not required to have a Canadian job offer at the time of application. During this 3 year period they can also apply for permanent residency under the category of Canadian Experience Class. Those who study for a 1 year program can work for 1 year on the completion of education.
Undoubtedly. a education from Canada translates into new skills, better job prospects and higher salaries. the international exposure also lets you have a better chance at promotion throughout their career, better health and benefit packages, as well as better pension plans. Clearly, the rewards of a Canadian education will last you a lifetime.
Canada is the 7th largest economy in the world and an extremely safe country and stable economy. The above benefits has attracted a large number of students to apply to Canada. This has resulted in several programs for May and September already getting full. We thus advice all students to apply as soon as possible and also appear for the IELTS at the earliest.
