Sania Mirza - BOWLED OVER - AGAINST HEr MARRIAGE

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Case of opposites attracting

Right now, it's not Sania Mirza's performance or her wrist injury that's creating waves. This time, the buzz is all about her impending wedding with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. and the blushing bride-to-be, whose earlier engagement ended over a month ago, is seemingly on top of the world.
Sania has gone on record to say that she met Shoaib almost six years ago. Those who've seen the two together would agree that they are as different as chalk and cheese. Ask Sania what it is about Shoaib that she finds endearing, and she says, "I like his serenity. He's so calm, quiet and unruffled always. " That's in complete contrast to her bubbly, hindaas nature. "So, it was a case of opposites attracting, " she giggles.
On her special day, this gal is certainly going to bowl the world over. But everyone would like to know exactly what she'll wear for her wedding and who's designing her bridal ensemble?" I'm not going to reveal who's designing my bridal outfit, but yes, I will wear Khada dupatta and lachcha, Which are unique to Hyderabad." The colour will be a surprise, she says.
The Groom is also said to be planing his wedding ensemble while accepting congratultions, according to hs tweets. Try telling this to the bride, anhd she says, "Let me clarify that it's not his account and I don't know who's posing as Shoaib."
The tennis ace, who's made it clear that she's not 'making a plitical statement' through her marriage to a Pakistani cricketer and "will continue to play for India, " confesses, "I would still hope and pray to Allah that the two countries come closer and that strained relations improve."

As the countdown begins to the Pantaloons Femina Miss India (PFMI) 2010 contest, the 18 shortlisted beauties are getting ready to battle it out for the crown. Each one , talented and good-Looking in her own right, will be given the expert touch by three renowned mentors. While Marc Robinson ( contestant director and fashion director, PFMI 2010) is responsible for their grooming process and finishing touches,Anupam Kher (acting mentor) will help bring out the hidden talents in the girls as Shiamak Davar (Grur of modern contemporary dance in India) will get them dancing fit. Commenting on the PFMI platform, Shiamak said, "This pageant has given Indian cinema some of the most brilliant actresses. Right from Juhi Chawla to Aishwarya Rai, Priyaka Chopra, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza. I feel it is a great initiative by the PFMI team to get on board two of the most reputed filmmakers -- Vipul Amrutial Shah and Madhur Bhandarkar. It is innovative efforts like these that make the contest a class apart." That's right. From among the lucky finalists, two girls will be chosen by Madhur and Vipul for an upcoming film. While Shinamak will help the girl get into the right groove, film star wart Anupam Kher will train them through his 'Actor Prepares' academy. "I intend to rectify the drawbacks in the girls and help in polishing the actor hidden within. "This platform opens up so many avenues for the contestants right from modeling to television and films. IPL CRICKET 2010 - Kings XI Punjab Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

IPL CRICKET 2010
KXIP Vs RCB

DROPPING GUARD, KINGSIZE
Kings XI Punjab Fielders Miss Easy Catches To Hand RCB 6-Wicket Win

Mohali:One thought Good Friday would bring happy tidings, but fortune refused to change for Preity Zinta and her team in the third season of the IPL. At the PCA stadium here, Kings XI Punjab fell to their seventh defeat in eight games to virtually end even the faint hopes of making the semifinals.Despite posting a challenging total of 181-5, after opting to bat first, they failed to defend it, thanks to some stingless bowling and pathetic fielding, with crucial catches being floored and misfields being the norm, thus affecting the chances of the team which has been struggling from the word "go." With largesses on the field, they handed Royal Challengers Bangalore their fifth win in eight matches, helping them to break a sequence of two successive losses.
The much-needed triumph has put the RCB campaign back on the track, taking them to the second spot in the points table, and with the arrival of Ross Taylor. who was benched because of jetlag after reaching here from New Zealand just 24 hours ago, the Mallya Brigade can hope for some more good times ahead in the tournament.
With Kevin Pietersen (66 not out) in full flow and the support cast of Virat Kohli, Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey going  great guns the total which looked formidable at one stage, turned out to be insufficient in the end with RCB romping home in the fianl over, with six wickets to spare. A couple of wickets towards the end did provide some excitement, but there was no joy for the home team, who lost their fourth game at home this season.
The KXIP batsmen had earlier done a good job by producing a healthy total with the skipper Kumar Sangakkara himself providing the early thrust and the much maligned Yuvraj Singh and Ravi Bopara carrying the good work with Irfan Pathan playing a lage cameo. Snagakkara, returning to the team after a one-match ban for consistent slow over-rate, was in sublime touch, starting with lovely drives off his namesake Kumars, Praveen and Vinay. He looked good as long as the lasted and deserved to get a half century, but the pulled a Steyn delivery straight to Kallis at mid-wicket. The beleaguered KXIP skipper had the satisfaction of playing his best knock of the season, though he would have liked to have batted a few more overs.

COOL CRICKETISTAS Mandira, Payal and Tulip

Game for it, ladies ?

The Airtel Champions League T20-Season 2 promises to make  cricket a hot favourite among women too

The increasing popularity of T20 cricket among women and the glam added to the sport due to the IPL may just have spurred on more women than ever before to give menfolk company during a match. And how much more excitement the Airtel Champions League T20 Season 2 will create is anybody's guess.
Ask Tulip Joshi if the IPL has got her, and other women, interested in cricket, and her, and other women, interested in cricket, and she says, "I think so,. To have all your favurite players playing together is definitely exciting. " So even though the Mumbai Indeians and Kolkata Knight Riders are Tulip's favourite teams, she's glued to any match that's exciting enough.
For women like Payal Rohatgi, who love cricket in all its froms, the game's always been exciting. "but the 20-over matchjust makes things more interesting because of its pace. " Payal also understands how "the glamour quotient and the idea of foreign crickers playing in the same team as the Indians has made the IPL a big hit among the fairer sex. " But what really gets her excited is the idea of an international league of champions with the best cricket teams from all over the world, fighting for the top slot aka Airtel Champions League T20 Season 2. "The T-20 format and the best cricket leagues in the world will be a great combo!" she says.
And if cricketista Mandira Bedi could choose her favourite teams from Inida for the Champions League, she'd send Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. She feels, "A T-20 match is a short-team comitment. IT's a three-hour entertainer that women are ready to give their time to."
Designer Mandira Wirkechoes the sentiment, "T-20 matches are very crisp and to the point, so they've become very popular. The energy in IPL matches is fantastic. At the end of the day, cricket too is entertainment. So, why not amalgamate it with glamour? It's no longer about women changing channels during a cricket match,"She's rooting for the Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils for the ACL T20 Season 2. So, w3ho are you rooting for?
