A FEW MOVES THAT ARE BOUND TO BRING THAT SMILE BACK TO YOUR FACE

Happiness can be self -controlled and boosted through certain practices, claim researchers.Psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky of the University of California, Riverside, said, "Despite the finding that happiness is partially genetically determined, a large portion of happiness is in our power to change." After analysing 51 studies,Lyubomirsky has jotted down five things that can improve happiness.

BE GRATEFUL

Some study participants were asked to write letters of gratitude to people who had helped them. These people reported a lasting increase in happiness over weeks and even months.

BE OPTIMISTIC

Study participants were asked to visualise an ideal future-for example, living with a loving and supportive partner, or finding a job that was fulfilling - and describe the image in a journal entry. After doing this for a few weeks, these people reported increased feelings of well - being.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

People who practice writing down three good things that have happened to them every week show significant boosts in happiness.

USE YOUR STRENGTHS

TENDULKAR FIRST TO BREAK 200-RUN

Tendulkar First To Break 200-Run Barrier In ODI's

Gwalior:  Never annoy the Master. And that is what the South Africans seemed to have done when they doubted a save by Sachin Tendulkar on the boundary during the close finish in the first one dayer in jaipur on sunday. And they got the reply three days later as a Sachin-storm blew them away on Wednesday.

after50 overs and 226 minutes of blast at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium, the little champion become the first man to ger a double hundred in One-dayers, returning unbeaten on exactly 200 and helping India post 401 for three.

He, in the process, went past the highest individual score in ODIs, 194 which was achieved by both Saeed Anwar of Pakistan and Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe.

Despite a fighting century from AB de Villiers, those mountain of runs proved too much of a climb for the visitors as they crumbled to 248 all out to hand India a 153-run victory. De Villiers returned hut unbeaten on 114 (6x2, 4x13, 101 balls).

That meant the hosts wrapped up the three-match series with a game yet to be played. The series win also ensured that India retained their No.2 ODI ranking.

After MS Dhoni opted to bat first, it was a Tendulkar show all the way, The maestro was in silken fouch from the very start with some breathtaking display of willow-sielding at the venue that tends to bring out the best in him -- Tendulkar has played match-winning knocks here during his last two visits, 97 against Pakistan and 100 versus Australia.

But none can be compared to this one. Pulling, driving, sweeping, cutting... it seemed he was in a different zone. It was a surreal experience for the 30,000 fans.

Those lucky to be here can now tell their grandchildren that they were there whin Tendulkar was scripting his dream sequence that contained three huge sixes and 25 boundaries and took just 147 balls.

Suffering from cramps and fatigue in the last minutes of the innings, he managed a single in the final over to reach the coveted mark even as Dhoni when hammer and tongs to heop India cross the 400-mark in ODIs for the third time.

It wasn't a perfect start for India with dangerman Virendra Sehwag, declared fit to play in the morning, departing early. But with Tendulkar looking infallible, dinesh Karthik proved the ideal foil at the other end and there was no stopping India.

Growing in confidence in the master's company, Kartik too made the bowlers look ordinary as the duo put on 194 runs for the second wicket. Karthik collected 75 runs off 85 deliveries before holing out to Herschelie Gibbs at me-wicket off Parnell.

MILESTONE MAn - SACHIN TENDULKAR

I dedicate it to all Indians:  Tendulkar

Gwalior:  Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar dedicated his history-making unbeaten knock of 200 to the people of India. In the post-match ceremony, Tendulkar said that throughout his 20-year career, he got amazing support from his fans and the people of India. "I dedicae this ton to the people of India. I thank those who supported me and this is indeed a special moment, " he said.

Tendulkar also expressed satisfaction that his body lasted 50 overs in the match that was a do-or-die game for the visiting South African team here at the Roop sing stadium on Wednesday.

"In my heart, I always feel what I am doing should be good for the team. I am always motivated to do right things for the team. Today, I was striking the ball well and I felt happy about it," he said.

On being asked when he actually felt that he could topple all the records and even become the first man to reach such a huge milestone, Tendulkar said; "I was jbatting on 175 in the 42nd over and that time it crossed my mind that there was a chance. When I really reached close to it, I started rotating the strike because MS (Dhoni) was striking the ball really well. It feels good that I lasted 50 overs in the middle."

When asked whether this will be one record which will never be broken, he said; "Every record is breakable and I think one day, this will also be broken, "

How does he maintain this fitness day in and day out?I am human being and at times, I, too, need a break. But when I go to the ground, I give my 100 per cent, " Tendulkar added.

Like always, Tendulkar also showered praise on rest of his teammates, who partnered with him in the match. "Yusuf (Pathan), Dinesh (Karhik) and MS played crucial knocks and that helped us reach such a huge score.

Earlier, a target of 340 to 350 was there in my mine, but the way Yusuf and MS started hitting the ball, it changed the momentum completely, " Tendulkar said.

CRICKET AT GWALIOR

SEWAG DOUBTFUL
Opener May Join Injury List Today To Dent India's Chances In Second ODI

Gwalior: Will Virnder Sehwag play the second ODI? This was the question doing the rounds as India geared uyp for another grim battle in the one-dayers with South African on Wednesday. skipper Mahendra Singh Dhone didn't commit anything on the eve of the match. With Gautam Gambhir, Yuvaraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh out due to a combination of factors, sehwag's injury would further weaken India's chances.

Though the Delhi opener batted at the nets for about half an hour at the Captain Roop singh stadium of Tuesday, Dhoni played it safe by saying, "We will take the final call in the morning, though he showed no signs of any injury. "Sehwag got a bck niggle while batting in the first ODI in Jaipur on Sunday.

Sehwag's absence would mean Abhishek Nayar taking up his posotion in the side. A short series has its own pitfalls. It gives very little chance for comebacks. The Indian victory in the opener has added a few dimensions to the secondgame. Any further slip for the Proteas will mean the end of the road for the visitors.

For South Africa, the booster dose in batting has to come from skipper kallis and Herschelle Gibbs will have to contrubute. The way the South African middle order played in the opening match must be a worry for the visitors. The South African bowling also didn't look too menacing. Their plan to bounce out the Indian batsmen on slow wickets did not work. On a small ground here with no high stands, the breeze across the ground may heop the seamers and they would be better off pitching the ball up here. More so in the night, when the lights are on.

But then, in the second - half of the game the dew may also play its part. With the ball getting wet and skidding on to the bat, it can upset the rhythm of the bowlers. Inidia's main problem were the medium-pacers. Ashish Nehra, Praveen Kumar and S Sreesanth had a poort outing in Jaipur. Dhoni talked about it and said he expected a better show from the new ball bowlers.

The weather can also be an irritant. Some unseasonal showers on Monday night gave the oranisers some anxious moments, and the morning practice of the Indians had to be rescheduled by a few hours.

NEIL NITIN MUKESH - Role Call

The youngest
husband !
Neil Nitin Mukesh is all set to star with Priyanka Chopra...

While Naseeruddin Shah (at 60) would be Priyanka Chopra's oldest husband in Saat Khoon Maaf (earlier titled Ek Bataa Saath), Neil Nitin Mukesh has been signed to play her youngest husband.

Though age-wise, Neil is a few months older than Priyanka, the actor-- who scorched the ramp in Chennai recently-- initially felt he would look incompatible with her.

says a source, "Neil didn't want another situation like Aa Dekhen Zara where everyone commented on how incompatible Bipasha and he looked. at the same time, he's a big fan of Priyanka's work. so, when he heard that his 'colleague' Ranbit Kapoor was wirking with Priyanka and had prepared himself to match her maturity level (Ranbit has a stubbled, lean red-eyed look in anjaana Anjaani), Neil was game for it. "

Neil's character will require a heavy physical transformation. Says the actor, "When I heard the script, I was zapped. This was something I had to do. I play one of Priyanka's hunbands; the yougest of the lot. Thye gact that I get to be in the same film with actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Mohanlalji was incentive enough. "

Neil starts shooting for Saat Khoon Maaf from april. "I've a somewhat crowded date diary this year. I join abbas-Mustan from June to December for Italian Job. "

Neil, who moved to Powai to be near Yashraj studios to avoid the daily traffic, is still wondering if he made the right move.

"The traffic on this side of town is just as bad. However, the good part is that when I had an off day off recently,  invited my mom over to do up my new home the way I wanted it. "

Neil who has been a part of a joint family household all his life, says he has no time to miss his family. "That's because I use that old flat of ours only to sleep.....alone !"

TOP 5' STARS AND THEIR POTENTIAL MARKET OVERSEAS

THE REAL ACTION IS
OVERSEAS

TOP 5 STARS
  • RAJINIKANTH           - Rs. 12 to 15 Crore
  •  KAMAL HAASAN      - Rs. 10 to 12 Crore
  •  VIJAY                          - Rs. 5 to 7 Crore
  • SURIYA                        - Rs. 3 to 5 Crore
  • VIKRAM                      - Rs. 3 to 5 Crore
Rated by overseas distributors

(CLOCKWISE) Rajinikanth,  still from Dasavatharam, Three idiots and My Name is Khan

Bollywood films and its superstars are rocking the lucrative overseas market, which Shah Rukh Khan's latest film My Name Is Khan (MINK) being described as a 'global phenomenon' by trade analysts. Hindi films tsday recover almost 40 percent of its total revenue from overseas markets. Contrastingly, in Kollywood, films with big heroes have a measly 7 to 10 percent of its total gross from overseas markets.

Whys is it that the overseas market of Tamil films is nto in the league of Hindi films, despite being the sdcond largest revenue earner among Indian films in foreign countries ? reasons Jayavel Murugan, one of the biggest distributors for Tamil films in the US, "First and foremost, there is only a market for Tamil superstars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, suriya, Vikram and Ajith.

In that order, There is no real market for other heroes' films as a lot depends on reviews on the internet. recently, Tamizh Padam (a spoof on Kollywood)--which got rave reviews on the Internet-- has become a sleeper hit, "

Last year; 60 to 65 of the total 132 films were released in overseas markets. However, considering the fact that the Tamil diaspora hassettled in more than 50 countries golbally, the revenue from Tamil films is insignificant. The highest collecting tamil films in the overseas market are -- Siraji (said to have grossed around rs 12 crore), Dasavatharam (rummoured to have grossed around Rs. 10 crore  ) and Pokkiri (around Rs 5 crore).

The reason for the lacklustre response to Tamil films at the BO overseas is mainly due to rampant piracy. According to an estimate made by an Anti Movie Piracy Company (AMPC), about 1,200 illegal websites upload Tamil films the moment they are released. These websites operate out of overseas countries and cater to the local Tamil audiences. Pirated DVD's of Tamil films get released within a day of the film's release and are sold across the 50 countries where there is revenue potential.

Recently, Bollywood biggies signed up with multiple AMPCs to delete illegal Internet video streams of movies like 3 Idiots, Paa and the recent MNIK. so, why cannot Tamil producers employ similar tactics to prevent illegal files of their films on the Internet? says a leading Tamil producer, "The trouble is that while Hindi films are literally releasing worldwide in 400 to 500 screens, Tamil films release in hardly a dozen countries (in 50 to 70 screens). Also, Hindi films are getting newer markets (MNIK released in 8 screens in Egypt) where there are hardly any Indians. But, Tamil films have not gone beyond traditional markets."

Concludes Jayavel Murugan, "Top Bollywood heroes go to every nook and corner of the planet to promote their films. But, kollywood superstars refuse to do overseas promotions. Kollywood should shed its conservative approach and market films aggresively if it wants to survive,"
