Gwen Stefani - KEEP GUESSING

Saturday, May 15, 2010

In the family way?

Gwen Stefani is reported to be expecting her third child with rocker husband Gavin Rossdale. The pop star, who is already a mom to sons kingston (three) and 20-month-old Zuma, had previously expressed her desire to add another tot to her growing brood once she gets a break from her busy work schedule.
Stefani has recently been spotted sporting a fuller figure and snaps of the No Doubt singer in New York last week show her with what appears to be a baby bump.
Stefani has also been photographed wearing a 'sea-band' bracelet, usually associated with expectant mothers, as it helps to relieve morning sickness.

Dia Mirza - BUDDY LOVE

Dinner table talk!

Last week, we bumped into Dia dahin' at a kebab restaurant in Mumbai. She was with Zayed Khan, his wifey Mallika and some other buddies. All three Dia, Zayed and Mallika have been friends for really long.
So sadly, no kebab mein haddi here. And while the plates were being polished off, there was some 'meaty' conversation doing the rounds. Zayed was updating his buddies on the headlines around the world. The hot topic was apparently some interesting developments in Hollywood. And no! It wasn't about brother-in-law Hrithik supposedly turning into a 'phenomenon' in the West!

SALMAN'S "HOT"
WAYS TO STAY COOL!

No one knows how to beat the rising mercury levels like Salman Khan does, We've seen actors run to their air-conditioned vans the moment they finish a shot. The lovely ladies don't let the harsh rays taint their beauty. But Sallu bhai knows how to 'just chill' even in this unbeatable summer. While everyone is reeling under fainting spells, SK maintains his old habit of sitting outside his van and sipping a hot cuppa chai with his staff and friends. Recently, when we met up with him on the sets of Dabaang, dressed perfectly in his shirt and denims, he was sitting outdoors with Poonam Sinha (Shatrughan's wife) and Sonakshi, discussing some scenes. And while the rest were wiping their brows, Salman was in his element, looking totally cool, Now that's what we call acool dude, huh?

Kate Moss - SUPER MOM

Kate is a regular mom

When it comes to celebrities, many are of the opinion that they don't really have to bother about picking up their kids from school or doing any of the menial chores for them as there would be servants to help.
But if we talk about Kate Moss, she definitely falls in the supermodel-but-regular mom category. The super model was snapped in a London cafe recently, when she was enjoying a hot cup of coffee with her friends. Kate, 36, laughed and joked with her pals as she sipped on her drink in the cafe, which was a stone's throw from her Maida Vale home. But like any conscientious mom, she kept a beadly eye on the time, so she wouldn't be late to pick up seven-year-old Lila when the school bell rang.
Dressed casually in skinny jeans, a grey sweater and a cropped black leather jacket she clutched Lila's hand as they left her school. She even carried her daughter's school bag and homework for her as they got into Kate's car and sped home. The other mothers were perhaps quite used to seeing their famous fellow mom at the school gates because none of them batted an eyelid as she walked past. Lila is Kate's daughter from her previous relationship with magazine editor Jefferson Hack.

Sophie Choudry - ON A SONG

Out of control

After a recent show at Phuket, Sophie Choudry and her trope went out for a night in the town. They sat at a bar where a fabulous Filipino band was playing.
Soon Sophie's gang dared her to get up on stage and sing a song completely out of tune. Sophie, not one to back down from the challenge, got up on stage, introduced herself and sang killing me saftly horrendously out of time for a minute. Everyone's face fell and soon Sophie couldn't stop laughing. She then asked the band to start over and sang a rendition that had everyone clapping and cheering. She got a standing ovation. Who was witness to this great happening? Sophei's ever efficient PR machinery.

Vivek Oberoi, Ram Gopal Varma and Abhishek Bachchan: FILMI FUNDAS

RGV: Bone of contention?

It is being suggested that Ram Gopal Varma, who made two memorable films Sarkar and Sarkar Raj with Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is allegedly not very welcome into their fold today. The reason for the temporary estrangement is simple. RGV is busy adding finishing touches to Raktha Charitra with Vivek Oberoi. And anyone who is close to Vivek (person ally or professionally) is not really welcome on that side. Trade sources say that it may be a long while before RGV makes a film with the Bachchans. But in Bollywood, as in life, friendships and enmity are temporary.

Reese Witherspoon - BE A BRIDE

Reese
wants to
marry again

Reese Witherspoon, the Legally Blonde actress, who has daughter Ava, 10, and six-year-old son Deacon with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, has expressed her wish to walk down the aisle again, but this time with Hollywood agent Jim Toth, who she started dating earlier this year.
A source said,"Their relationship is very hot and messy, and she loves the excitement of it. She isn't going to propose to him or anything like that, but she has definitely dropped a few hints and he's absolutely head over heels for her." The 34-year-old star, who dated actor Jake Gyllenhaal for two years before meeting Jim, has even been shopping to find her ideal engagement ring.
"Reese micromanages everything. Of course, she'll want to give some input on the ring she'll be wearing for the rest of her life," added the source. Ryan, who recently split from long-term girlfriend Abbie Cornish, has given Reese's new romance his blessings. He recently said, "I trust her to make the right decisions around our children. I hope she feels the same way."

Shriya Saran - MUGGED

Stolen in Spain

Shriya Saran is one bold girl, we must say. Either that or she really must have had a chill pill.
The Sivaji The Boss actress was recently robbed in Barcelona, Spain, where she was shooting for a Telugu film with Ravi Teja. Shriya, who was returning to the resort she was staying in after shopping with friends in a Barcelona shopping mall, was relieved of two of her shopping bags.
Recalling the experience, Shriya says. "Everyone took the train back to the hotel and mid-way, we suddenly realised that we had been robbed on the train itself."
However, Shriya is super cool about the incident and admits that it's ber carelessness tht caused the loss.
"Such an incident happened because we were not careful about our belongings. We did not lose anything expensive only some things for the house, a couple of bags and shoes.
Anyway, Barcelona is such a beautiful place that i may come back again purely on a holiday. But I will make sure that i tie all my bags around my neck so no one dares nick me again," says the actress with a wink. who is busy with Chikku Bukku opposite Arya.

John Abraham and Vidya Balan - TALENT POWER HOUSE and WHAT'S GOING ON?

UFFF.........
VIDYA!

One has been constantly hearing that John Abraham is not keen on doing a movie with Vidya Balan. One filmmaker recently confirmed this. He says, "When I told John, I have Vidya signed for my film, he made an excuse and got out."
But what's more surprising is that when the same filmmaker asked Bobby Deol to step into the project, Bobby too reportedly wasn't too keen on working with Vidya. If there is any truth to this, then Bobby must have his head examined. Vidya, post Paa and Ishqiya, is more happening than a lot of heroes in Bollywood. However, one would like to give John and Bobby the benefit of doubt. Perhaps they wanted to get out of the project itself and since they couldn't find a excuse, they made Vidya their excuse. Either way guys, Vidya is super-talented. There is no doubt about that.

Cigarette butts to
make steel rust - free

Hong Kong: Chemical extracts from cigarete butts -- so toxic they kill fish -- can be used to protect steel pipes from rusting, a study in China has found.

In a paper published in the American Chemical Society's journal industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, the scientists in China said they identified nine chemicals after immersing cigarette butts in water.
They applied the extracts to N80, a type of steel used in oil pipes, and found that they protected the steel from rusting. "The metal surface can be protected and the iron atom's further dissolution can be prevented," they wrote.
the chemicals, including nicotine, appear to be responsible for this anti-corrosion effect, they added. The research was led by Jun Zhao at Xi'an Jiaotong University's School of Energy and Power Engineering and funded by China's state oil firm China National Petroleum Corporation.
Corrosion of steel pipes used by the oil industry costs oil producers millions of dollars annually to repair or replace. According to the paper, 4.5 trillion cigarette butts find their way into the environment each year.

Soon, Wireless implants Kickstart Heart

Soon, wireless implants
that can kickstrt heart
The likelihood that patients may some day receive heart defibrillators that can operate without electrical wires connected to their hearts has moved a step closer, according to a study.

The development of the new type of defibrillator has been long pursued by a researcher, gust Bardy, at the seattle Institute for Cardiac Research in Seattle. And in the study published on Wednesday in the New England Jurnal of Medicine, Bardy and other researchers reported that initial trials of such a device in patients were successful.
Defibrillators fire an electrical jolt to interrupt a potentially fatal heart rhythm and restore normal beating. For a unit to function, a surgeon muct thread an electrical sensing wire through a blood vessel into a patient's heart. The wires pose risks because they can, on rare occasion, puncture the heart during implantation or fracture while in place.
The new version works much like an external defibrillator, but delivers the electrical jlot by means of a sensor implanted under the skin near the chest bone. A power unit is placed under the skin on the side of the chest.
The new device is already for sale in some European countries, but Bardy and others cautioned that full-scale, long-term trials were still needed to prove the implant's worth to the Food and drug Administration. Even if successful, the unit could not be used by all patients who needed a defibri8llator, but several experts said they were excited by the new study nonetheless.
Douglas Zipes, a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, said the new device could someday displace existing models used in many patients Every month, about 10,000 patients in the US get a defibrillator, either for the first time or as replacements for devices whose batteries have worn out.
In recent years, the safety of defibrillator wires has come in particular focus because a model made by Medtronic has been prone to fracturing. Hundreds of patients who received the model have had to undergo new operations to replace it. Also, scar tissue often builds up around intravenous wires, a process that can make removing and replacing them difficult or dangerous.
