IPL CRICKET 2010

Dada & Co need to get going

Mumbai: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. the one place where this line perhaps needs to be pasted in big blod letters is the Kolkata Knight Riders dressing room. IPL 3 has been on for a week, the contests have just about gotten tougher but the knights are still missing out on reading what the need of the hour can be.
Just because they have just only two matches in the tournament so far and have in fact won two of them should in no way deter the side from contemplating what the ground reality is. The two defeats-both severe batting debacles-should actually be serving them a timely notice to pull up their socks.
On Monday, their task will be no less easy, on the contrary more demanding, when they face Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Sachin Tendulkar-led team  may have faced an odd day's disappointment out against the Royal Challeners Bangalore but nonetheless, but they still happen to be among the tournament's most formidable contenders.
The Knoghts' batting against Chennai, or perhaps the lack of it, when their highest scoring player was wicket-keeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha at 22, was a sight that world've made team owner Shah Rukh Khan cringe. To add to the ignominy, the team performed a notch lesser in the following match against Rajasthan Royals bestowing upon shane Warne's team their first win this season.
In 2009, by the time the tournament was coming to an end, it began to appear that the biggest asset for most teams was the opportunity to play KKR just because two points seemed guaranteed. The last thing Sourav Ganguly-led side needs to do is offer that kind of help once again.
