A team of scientists discovered the star using the European southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope at the University of Sheffield identified it among a group of "monster" stars. The star, known as R136a1, has a current mass of 265 solar masses, and it is thought its birth weight was as much a s 320 times that of the un, the Telegraph reported. According to the scientists, it is also the most luminous star ever found, close to 10 million times that of the Sun. |
