Taking the action route Actor Shaam, whose Thillalangadi released last week, gets talking to Chennai Times.... enter All You girls out there, handsome hunk shaam might no you. He might not stretch out his arms and say, Aey Nee Romba Azhaga Irukka and plead Ullam Ketkumae anymore! All this because of the career. The actor, who's receiving good reviews for his role as a tough cop in Thillalangadi, a remake of enjoying every bit of the attention that his new image has fetched him. "When people saw the tough guy in Thillalangadi, they instantly these days?' he begins, "so, from now, I want to focus more on action. But that doesn't mean Iwon't take up romantic roles. If an interesting script like that of Vinnaithaanadi Varuwaayaa comes up, why not?" "I wish director Jeeva was alive, so that he could give me another Ullam Ketkumae," he sighs. So, what made him take the action route? "Tamil people want their heroes to be tough. And since I have already played chocolate boy roles, I did not want to get stunck with that particular image. I thought it would be a good idea to attempt another genre and prove that Iam a versatile actor too." Working in Thillalangadi must have been a cakewalk for Shaam. After all, he had played the a little more confident, " he agrees, "When working on Kick. I didn't know Ravi Teja much and my concentration was more on getting the dialogues right as i was working in a language I was not familiar with. But in this case, I know Jayam Ravi quite well and it was good fun shooting with him. As for the director, Raja, he is the king of remakes. We had a blast on the sets." While his performance is being lauded, the film has been receiving matters more to him-the success of his film or the appreciation of his work and he says, "To me, the film is important. At the end of the day, it's teamwork that helps reap benefits. At the same time, I will not deny that appreciation boosts your confidence." Shaam is one actor who has never shied away from multi-srarrers, which he feels is the recent trend. "Most of the films in the recent trend.times are multi-starrers. Instead of the usual song and dance routine and one guy bashing up a bunch of goons., It's quite different to do a role in which you appear for just five scenes. But solo projects do matter a lot for the image of an actor," So, the actor says he has decided to maintain a healthy balance. "My next release, Agam Puram, is a solo hero project, It s a larger than life role," signs off the actor who also has another Tamil film and two Telugu films in his kitty. |
