Erectile dysfunction
linked to heart disease


      Having problems in bed? Go for a heart check-up, for a new study has found a link between erectile dysfunction and coronary artery calcification which is a known predictor of future cardiovascular events. Researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine have carried out the study and found that men suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) are at an increased risk of high coronary artery calcification scored (CACS). For the study, the entolled in the World Trade Center medical Monitoring and Treatment Program, 327 of which had ED.


Sewage plant plays Mozart to microbes:
     A German sewage plant is playing Mozart to microbes to speed up waste breakdown. According to the Markische Allgemeine newspaper, the plat is playing classics such as The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro around-the-clock, via a series of speakers designed to replicate the acoustics of a concert hall. Bosses believe the composer's muxic will help reduce energy costs at the waste-treatment facility in Treuenbrietzen, southwest of Berlin. Scientists at German firm Mindus came up with the idea, saying micobes are particularly partial to harmonies and rhythms.

WHO Could flu pandemic alert:
       Scientists advising the World Health Organisation have held a meeting to give their latest assessment of swine flu, in a move that could end the pandemic alert, a WHO spokesman said. Speaking shortly before the teleconference began, WHO spokesman Gregory Haertl said the scientists would be "reviewing the epidemiological situation around the world" and that a "reviewing the epidemiological situation around the world" and that a "recommendation or announcement one way or the other" would be made. "The two most likely outcomes are either the status quo or post-pandemic," he told journalists.
