Gibson happy with
'unhappy' roles
Actor Mel Gibson, who had taken a break from acting for seven years, will be back on screen with The Edge Of Darkness. While the Martin Campbell-directed movie starts him as a homicide detective, investigating the death of his activist daughter, his other two projects The Beaver and How I Spent My Summer Vacation also revolve around sad lines. But the 54-year-old reveals that he enjoys taking on unhappy roles despite now difficult they can be because it makes him appreciate his own life.
"When you realise that half of your life has gone by, you don't want to do stupid stuff anymore," he says. "What does not kill you makes you stronger. Life's experiences, whether they be pleasant, unpleasant, tortuous or excruciatingly wonderful and blissful, it seasons you somehow and you learn from it," adds.
