Natural birth 'bacteria'
protect baby from asthama
Babies delivered vaginally receive protective bacteria as they pass through the birth canal, a scientist says. Infants born by caesarean section, however, are more vulnerable to asthma, allergies and infection as they miss out on receiveng mothers" good bacteria, according to Professor Patricia Conway, of the University of New South Wales. According to the expert, the bacteria, left on the baby's skin, could then colonize the intestine and help inoculate newborns against hospital bugs.
'Gays pay more attention to detail':
A new study has confirmed that gays have an inbuilt radar that helps them seek out like minded souls. And this sixth sense, or "gaydar", guarantees that they pay more attention to detail. Dutch scientists presented 42 gay and straight volunteers with photos of outlines of large squares and rectangles. When asked about details in the photos, the gay men and women were right more of the time, suggesting that they are able to hone in on even very small details as well as the bigger picture.
