CHAN PLAYS THE
GOOD SAMARITAN
Jackie Chan showed his 'good samaritan' side when he come forward to aid those affected by a drought in China.
He delivered 48,000 bottles of fluids when he travelled to Tong Ren in China's Guizhou province. He also visited an elementary school, where he gave students back packs filled with notebooks, lee shirts and rulers. He writes, "Up in the mountains, they were facing a serious water shortage, In the summer, villagers have to walk 10 miles down the mountain just to collect two bottles of water, On the way up to the mountain, I could see the roof of many housed being used as a reservoir for water. However, it was covered with moss."
The martial arts master not just transported the water bottles but also helped the area by donating one million Yuan to the local government. "After seeing how they drank water, i donated one million RMB to the local government. Also, I donated money (for) the construction of 10 kilometers of water pipes and a water tower. Now, 9,000 people in the village can drink colean water!" he said
