'God and Sex
is not a biopic of
Nithyananda'
His Last film, Rann, might have received mixed responses from critics and audiences, but Ram Gopal Varma is satisfied with his wo0rk. "I did complete justice to the subject but I don't understand why people didn't understand why people didn't like it." he says in his defense. And Ramu continues to be a busy man.Up next is a film on Swami Nithyananda. "It's not a biopic, though he has sparked my interest. Devotees forget that God men too are human, vulnerable to drives like power, fame, greed and sex," he explains.
The power of sex is what RGV wants to explore in his next project. "I found this connection between Goad and sex -- the title of the film -- Interesting to explore. The script's ready and we'll cast once I'm done with Raktha Charithra. " he adds.
Meanwhile, the director producer has wrapped up the promotion for Phoonk 2. "The story takes off from the black magic woman, coming back from the dead. I'd call this my first sequel because, unlike the Darna mana Hai series, with Phoonk, the audience is familiar with the family, story and characters." he says.
Meanwhile, RGV's Raktha Charithra is also taking shape. Starring Suriya, Priya Mani and Vivek Oberoi, the film is based on the true story of Andhra gangster-turned-politician, Paritala Ravi. "It's a true story in my perception. In the process of getting closer to the truth, I became a journalist, a detective and a psychoanalyst," RGV says.
Phoonk 2 and Raktha Charithra will also be released in Tamil and Telugu . Is that his southern connection at work? "I select actors whom I have Knowledge of. I don't sign them on the basis of the language the film will be made in," says RGV, adding, "I love the intense roles Suriya does and Priya's performance in Paruthiveeran blew me away."
