Manoj, Sourav Turn It On As KKR Beat Kings XI By 39 Runs

Mohali:It was relief for Kolkata Knight Riders at long ast. The home boys Sourav Ganguly (50) and Monoj Tiwary (75) took it upon themselves as Shah Rukh Khan's boys thrashed Kings XI Mohali by 39 runs. It was KKR's third win while Kings have only one in their kitty.

Earlier, Sourav and Manoj were involved in a crucial 79 run stand for the third wicket which set it all up for the Knights.The 24-year-old Tiwary's 47 balls upbeaten innings was studded with eight fours and two sixes. While Ganguly's greezy 40 ball innings included six fours and one six.

Knight Riders were off to a rollicking start with opener Chris Gayle (14) clobbering three fours off Brett Lee as the Australian, playing his first match in IPL III, bled 19 runs in his first over.

Ganguly also didn't lag behind and punished Irfan Pathan for consecutive fours in the second over to take Kolkata to 27 in two overs.

However, Shalabh Srivaastava put the brakes on the score, getting rid of Gayle, who miscued a pull shot and Manvinder Bisla took a good catch at the boundary line.

Ganguly picked up a couple of fours more to keep the scoreboard ticking before newman Mandeep Singh popped one up straight to Lee at mid on to see his side reduce to 45 for two in five overs.

With Vikramjeet Malik and Piyush Chawla bowling in tandem, runs dried up for the Kolkata team and Ganguly and Manoj had to depend on ones and twos to take KKR to 75 for two in 10 overs.

In the 11th over, Ganguly slammed the first six of the match when he sent Chawla out or the park and followed if up with a boundary at cover to step the gas.

Tiwary also joined the party and pulled Malik for a mid wicket boundary, before picking up another four at cover to bring up the hundred for the knight Riders.

Shahid Kapoor averted a major a major mishap on the sets of Badmaash Company when a chandelier crashed...

Chandeliers have been a regular prop in Bollywood . People have periodically swung off them while the really ornate osed are used as embellishments to add to the already opulent decor. But Anushka Sharma will always remember the prop with a shoudder. Anushkha, who was shooting a music video for Parmeet Sethi's Badmaash Company, escaped a chandelier catastrophe.

Shahid and Anushka, under the supervision of choreographer Ahmed Khan, were moving towards a pre-decided spot almost underneath a huge chandelier. To everyone's shock, the chandelier suddenly came crashing to the ground. It would have gravely injured Anushka if it hadn't been for Shahid's quick reflexes. He managed to push the utterly petrified. Anushka out of harm's way.

Said choreographer Ahmed Khan, "Sasha )Shahid) didn't push Anushka away. He pulled her towards himself just in time. Actually, it was partly my fault. My instructions went a little away. Anything could have happened. I hope we finish the song without any more problems. "

For her part, Anushka said, "Shahid reacted very quickly. Luckily. no one was injured. " But the real-life hero played down the incident. "It was nothing major, " said Shahid.

Incidentally, this is the second time within a year that Shahid has come to his leading lady's rescue. During the shoot of Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey. Priyanka Choopra was driving a scooter with Shahid in the pillion when she lost her balance.and fell. She could have sustained a major face injury if Shahid had not buffered the fall with his hands.

WHY PERCY JACKSON IS THE

NEXT HARRY POTTER !

Already a hit in its opening weekend in theatres (raking in $39 million), Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lighting Thief,presented by Fox Star Studios, has been compared to the Harry Potter series. And it's star, 18-year-old Logan Lerman, has been hailed as the next Danil Radcliffe. What else does the fantasy film share in common with Harry Potter ? More than you might think!

The story is a mythological adventure to rival Harry Potter's fantasy adventure. The premise of Percy Jackson being the story of an American teenager Percy ((Lerman). He discovers that he's the demi-god son of Poseidon and a mortal (Catherine Keener), and is accused by Zeus of stealing his lightning bolt. Just like Harry, Percy's part of a teen trio (Harry, Hermione and Ron) that includes pals Grover (Brandon T Jackson) and Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario).

Director Chris Columbus knows his way around a fantastical tale.He helmed the first two Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) and harry potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Percy comes from a best-selling book series by Rick Riordan with a huge tween and teen fanbase and there are a whole string of books that have yet to see the big screen. It's another book series that has the potential to create blockbuster after block buster a la harry Potter.

Percy has abandonment issues, and the hero hasn't seen his father Poseidon since he was a baby. His stepfather (Joe Pantoliano) literally smells and abuses his long-suffering mother. But trust us, there's a sneaky reason for mom's choice of mates.

Percy, obviously, has a huge crush on Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, even though she's clearly a few grades ahead as a warrior and strategist. But, like Harry in the early movies, there's not even a chaste kiss to be had between the flirting pair.

Just like Harry, famous faces abound in supporting roles-Uma Thurman plays Medusa, ex-James Bond Pierce Brosnan is a centaur, Rosario Dawson is Persephone, Grey's Anatomy's kevin McKidd is Poseidon and the always-hilarious Steve Coogan plays Hades, the lord of the under world, as a kind of heavy metal rock 'n rollnerd.

Pierce Brosnan initially threw away writer / director Shana Feste's script as it brought back the horror of the car crash that almost killed his son Sean. Calling the scriptt 'too heavy' the actor admits that his movie partner had to persuade him to go through it once again.

Said the actor, "This young woman had written this beautiful script, called The Greatest, and it's about the loss of a son. I almost lost my son Sean, few years ago. in a terrible accident. I got a dreadful call at 4.30 in the morning and he got airlifted out and survived. This film is about the loss of a son and the family coming together again. When I read it, I said, "No, I don't wanna go there, it's too heavy, ' and threw it under the bed. Then my partner said, 'Look, check it out again. Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone do have a cross connection.. Even if they hate to admit it, it is frue. Fist, it was Deepika and Ranbir who people talked about, then, it became Kat and Ranbit. Even Salman Khan seems to be fasinated with both the beauties-one for personal reasons, the other for profesional reasons. And, while Kat is the first brand ambassador for Team Banagalore at the IPL, now, Deepika has also been signed as a brand ambassador for the same team!

Of course, the enterprising owner of the IPL team is making sure that Kat and Deepika don't land up in the same stadium. The VVIP box may prove too asphyxiating for these two lovely ladies who despite being fabulous eye candy, may end up staring daggers at each other if they're in the same vicinity.

Asin and Vijay - ALL SET TO GUARD

Guess who is likely to star in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard? Well, Kollywood grapevine has it that it will be none other than Vijay and Asin who will play the roles played by Dileep and Nayanthara in the original.

Siddique, who directed the original, has been roped in to direct the Tamil version too. Vijay and Siddique had earlier worked together in the superhit film, Friends.

Raj Kiran will play the pivotal role of Asin's father who employs Vijay as her bodyguard. Vadivelu will provide the comic relief along with M S Bhaskar, while Vidyasagar will compose the music. The first schedule of the film is likely to start from April 1 in Chennai.
